Friedr. Herder 4.5″ fine ground stainless blade with laser engraved Pikas spade artwork. Handled in padauk, 8.75″ overall length, the full sized paduak handle offers a secure warm grip. These come in a fitted beechwood drawer liner box for secure storage with easy access.
These fine ground straight edged steak knives cut very smoothly and come back to life with a few strokes on a sharpening steel. While serrated knives cut better as they dull they are not as easy to sharpen as these straight edged knives.
Friedr. Herder Abr Sohn company is the longest continually operating knife making operation in Solingen Germany. Its famous Pikas spade logo was registered in 1727 although their place in Solingen’s blade making traces further back. Friedr Herder has kept many old patterns in carbon steel in production and offers a variety of new production knives for professionals and home cooks. We are happy to include these in our lineup. When looking for old knives seeing that Herder handle with the spade rivet peeking out is always exciting, we think it’s still true of the new production knives as well.
