In preowned, unused, pristine condition, Vermont-made combination of materials and styles as only Nick Anger can deliver, this large, bold, one-of-a-kind chef knife pairs a linear, geometric herringbone pattern of colorful, reclaimed skateboard decks with a mind-bending, Rorschach-like damascus pattern of three carbon alloys. For 263mm / 10.4″ the beautifully balanced damascus blade stretches outward from a comfortably sculpted integral bolster, the pattern skewing and bending to the whims of Nick’s hammer blows, a rounded spine tapering steadily from above the 68mm high heel to less than 1mm wide an inch from the tip, providing a touch of lateral flexibility and finesse in the final inches. Compound ‘S-grind’ bevel geometry lends cutting performance to a tool with a thin, hard edge with the weight and versatility of a daily kitchen workhorse. For control, surrounding the herringbone rainbow, black-dyed and stabilized maple is complemented by a ring of black micarta in the front, and finished with what has become Nick’s de facto maker’s mark, a striking damascus ‘A’ in the form of the handle’s retention bolt fastener.
